What you’ll need

  • A compatible Fujifilm camera and lens
  • A USB-C cable
  • A good-quality dummy battery kit
  • A charger to power the dummy battery kit
  • A tripod or desk mount
  • A compatible operating system

In my case, I’m using a:
  • Fujifilm X-T3 camera
  • Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R lens
  • USB-C to USB-A cable
  • Joby
  • Mac running macOS 12.3 (Monterey)

Camera settings

  • SET UP → Connection Setting → Connection Mode → USB Tether Shooting AUTO
  • AF/MF → Pre-AF → On (to enable auto-focus) – Remember to set this to Off when not using the camera as a webcam

Troubleshooting

Camera is not turning on when using dummy battery kit
  • Ensure the battery cover is closed
  • Check the power supply. You’ll need a USB port that supplies at least 5V 2.4A.
  • Use a wall charger instead of a USB port on your computer.
  • In the case that one USB port isn’t supplying enough power, plug both cables in.
Camera not recognised by computer

  • Try using another USB cable
Camera not recognised in Zoom
